Viravyne Chhim is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at MGG Investment Group. In this capacity, Ms. Chhim is responsible for overseeing legal and compliance matters relating to MGG’s business, including new business initiatives, fund structuring and related issues, investment transactions, and the regulatory compliance program.
Prior to MGG, Ms. Chhim was Chief Compliance Officer and Managing Director at Varagon Capital Partners, an asset manager focused on direct lending to middle market companies. Previously, she had two stints on the legal and compliance team within the credit businesses of Blackstone, the world’s largest alternative asset manager, and was lead counsel to Blackstone’s Liquid Credit Strategies business. Ms. Chhim worked in similar capacities at First Pacific Advisors, a Los Angeles-based institutional money management firm focused on value investing, and MatlinPatterson Global Advisers, an asset manager focused on distressed credit, structured credit, and performing credit. Ms. Chhim began her legal career at Latham & Watkins in the banking and structured finance practice groups, which included a secondment with the Credit Investments Group of Credit Suisse.
Ms. Chhim earned a JD/LLM in International and Comparative Law from Cornell Law School and a BA in Political Science (cum laude) and Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley.
